Mastery-Based Grading & Growth Mindset
Grading is based on the principal that genuine learning is a process and students should have the opportunity to access learning without being penalized for making the necessary formative errors that occur in pursuit of a mastery level understanding of skill and concepts.
Growth mindset is a theory pioneered by Dr. Carol Dweck, in this video she unlocks learning hacks for teachers, students, and parents. Dweck recognizes learners are not plateaued with fixed understandings of concepts, rather with proper support and continuous effort, the learner will increase their understanding of any complex concept.
